Donations Begin

It has been one week and the donations have started coming in! Praise God!

This morning, Pastor Dave finished a sermon series on the capital we have that we might invest in the others, with a message about financial capital. He reminded us that the things we think we own, really belong to God and we are just stewards of these things.

II Corinthians 9: 6-15
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written:
“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
    their righteousness endures forever.”[a]
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

This Adam Ford cartoon sums up this 5 part sermon series in one sentiment, "There's no telling the impact we might have when we invest our spiritual (or relational, physical, intellectual, or financial)  capital in other people."

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for the reminder that You give us so much, so that we might share it. Please encourage our donors to the good stewardship of all of these things You give, that we might bless others. May we make connections and start relationships. May we contribute time and energy. May we speak your message when asked why we do this for people we have never met. May the parents and children who struggle to celebrate Christmas be impressed on our hearts.

We pray that You will show us ways to share Your words with those who need Your grace, Your hope and Your promises. Thank you for this opportunity we have to love, meet and share with people who are lost in our system and lost in Your kingdom. Help us to use this divine appointment to show these parents and children who You are.

Guide us in the way You would have us go.
In Jesus' name we pray,
Amen
